However, there are many different types of siding options, and many of them require a lot of work to keep them looking good. 1. Vinyl Siding

This may be the first siding option you consider if you like low-maintenance products because vinyl requires almost no work to keep it looking fresh and new. Plus, vinyl siding is the cheapest low-maintenance siding option, but it doesn't last as long as some more expensive options. You won't ever have to paint your vinyl, but areas that are exposed to direct sunlight may fade over time. In moist, shaded areas, mildew may form on the siding, but you can clean it off with common household cleaners. Just make sure to avoid harsh chemicals, such as bleach.

2. Aluminum Siding

Aluminum siding is quite similar to vinyl siding because it, too, requires little maintenance. Aluminum also lasts about as long as vinyl, but it can cost twice as much. However, with aluminum you won't have to worry as much about mildew. The paint may fade and chip overtime, but you can easily repaint aluminum. However, fiber cement requires moderate maintenance, while wood is a high-maintenance siding material. Another advantage of fiber cement siding is that it is comparable in price to vinyl siding but lasts years longer. Routine cleaning with a pressure washer will keep your fiber cement siding looking neat and clean. Routine painting may be necessary.
